Driverless taxis (Txai) are in testing phase now. They are available at Yas island only. There are 7 pre-defined routes for the taxis. These taxis are available from 8 AM to 8 PM everyday.

Apart from driverless taxi, robo buses and trains are also running on Yas island.

Abu Dhabi Water Taxis

The Abu Dhabi Maritime has launched a new public water taxi that connects Yas Bay and Al Raha Beach. This service is open 7 days a week.

The Abu Dhabi water taxi will be available to use at each stop every hour, and the service will operate across high-demand locations, including Yas Bay, Yas Marina and Al Bandar with further stops be announced.

Abu Dhabi Drone Taxis

In the near future, commuters will be able to fly in from international destinations to Abu Dhabi International Airport, and then take a flying electric car home. However, the dates for the service are not announce yet.

With the objective of deploying a new concept of air transportation that uses electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft to move people and cargo, Abu Dhabi Airports has signed a memorandum of understanding with leading French firm Groupe ADP to explore its potential.

Abu Dhabi Airports and Groupe ADP will engage in the joint planning, design, development, and operation of ground infrastructure for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) in Abu Dhabi, following engagement with stakeholders, a feasibility study and market assessment to develop the roadmap.

These taxis are Mercedes vito taxis with lot of luggage space. Minimum charge for this type of taxis is AED 25 but meter starts from AED 5.

Abu Dhabi Family Taxis

Abu Dhabi Family taxi is a 7 seater taxi intended for families. Number of passengers allowed are up to 6. It has lady taxi driver.

These taxis are also known as Woman or lady taxis. This type of taxis are fewer in numbers. Minimum charge for this type taxis is AED 12 but meter start from AED 5.

Uber

Uber taxis do operate in Abu Dhabi but generally they are not used by people. They are more expensive than Abu Dhabi Taxis.

Abu Dhabi Taxis are around 35 to 40% cheaper than Uber. It costs around AED 80-90 to ride taxi from Abu Dhabi Airport to City Centre. The same trip from Abu Dhabi Airport to City Centre by Uber costs AED 120-140.

Careem

Careem taxis do operate in Abu Dhabi but generally they are not used by people. They are more expensive than Abu Dhabi Taxis.

Abu Dhabi Taxis are around 25 to 30% cheaper than Careem. It costs around AED 80-90 to ride taxi from Abu Dhabi Airport to City Centre. The same trip from Abu Dhabi Airport to City Centre by Careem costs AED 100-120.

Careem taxis can be booked on Uber website or Careem app.

Careem company was owned by Uber. However, in April 2023, Uber sold their share in Careem to UAE based firm E& (Etisalat telecommunication).

Abu Dhabi Pet Taxis

Pets are not allowed in Abu Dhabi Integrated Transport Centre’s taxis. You need to book pet taxis for the pet taxi services. These taxis provide ground transportation services for cats, dogs and birds etc for pet ambulance, animal boarding and grooming. These taxis offer both group and private taxi services.
